Sarah Dessen's newest novel follows insomniac Auden as she spends the summer at the beach with her self-absorbed father and stepmom with a new baby in tow. For Auden things get off to a rocky start as she second guesses whether her beach summer may have been a mistake. She settles in, starts to make friends and even tests out the social scene. Then she meets Eli, a guarded and mysterious guy, Auden’s feels comfortable with Eli and begins to open up. But, Auden is not used to opening up to anyone. Can she be open to new things – including Eli? Along for the Ride is a wonderful book about second chances and learning to live in the moment know that your future can follow a path you least expect.
